The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has completed the draw for the 2026 MTN Elite Under-19 Championship, setting the stage for another competitive edition of the youth football tournament.
The draw ceremony was held at the GFA headquarters in Accra on Friday, August 7, with 10 Regional Football Association (RFA) Under-19 teams divided into two groups of five.
The tournament is scheduled to take place from August 24 to September 4, 2026, at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
Defending champions Eastern Region have been placed in Group A, where they will face Volta Region, Ashanti Region, Western Region and Upper West Region.
Eastern Region will be hoping to successfully defend the title after their impressive performance in the previous edition. However, they face a difficult group featuring several regions with strong youth football programmes.
Group B will see 2025 runners-up Brong Ahafo Region compete against Central Region, Upper East Region, Greater Accra Region and Northern Region.
Brong Ahafo will be aiming to go one step further this year after falling short in the previous final.
The 11-day competition is expected to provide an important platform for some of Ghana’s most promising young footballers to develop their skills and gain valuable competitive experience.
The championship also gives players the opportunity to attract the attention of national youth team selectors and professional clubs looking for emerging talent.
Sponsored by MTN Ghana, the Elite U-19 Championship forms part of the GFA’s broader youth development programme. The association says the competition supports its efforts to identify, develop and nurture talented young players for the future of Ghanaian football.
