The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced that constituency executive elections have been successfully conducted in 245 out of the 276 constituencies across the country.
In an update issued by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the NPP said the successful elections represent an 88.7 percent completion rate, describing the process as largely peaceful and successful.
The party, however, noted that some constituencies were unable to complete the exercise due to disputes and other challenges.
According to the statement, 23 constituencies had their elections put on hold because of various disagreements that require further attention and resolution.
Additionally, four constituencies could not conduct their elections due to last-minute challenges.
The affected constituencies are Ningo Prampram, Atwima Mponua, Obuasi West, and Trobu.
The party’s National Steering Committee will also review the election activities in four constituencies where concerns have emerged.
These are Afigya Sekyere East, Adansi Asokwa, Bantama, and Asante Akyem Central.
The announcement follows a tense period in some parts of the country, where disagreements over the constituency elections led to legal disputes and confrontations among party supporters.
In some constituencies, party authorities and security agencies had to intervene to maintain peace and order.
The NPP said the National Secretariat remains committed to addressing all outstanding issues and ensuring that the electoral process is completed successfully in all affected areas.
“The National Secretariat remains committed to resolving all outstanding issues and ensuring the successful completion of the electoral process,” Mr Kodua Frimpong stated.
The General Secretary also praised party members, popularly known as Patriots, for their cooperation, discipline and commitment throughout the elections.
“We extend our sincere appreciation to all Patriots for their commitment, discipline, and support, which contributed to the successful conduct of these elections,” he added.
The constituency elections form part of the NPP’s internal reorganisation ahead future party activities and preparations for 2028 general elections. The exercise is expected to produce new constituency-level leadership structures responsible for mobilising members and strengthening the party’s grassroots organisation.
