4 arrested over murder of couple in Zebilla

The Upper East Regional Police Command has arrested four suspects in connection with the killing of a couple at Kusanaba in the Zebilla District.

The suspects were picked up at their hideout in Kugre near Garu on June 19, 2026, after police investigations into the shooting death of 45-year-old Apam Azubilla and his wife, 35-year-old Apam Anomsigna.

Police investigations revealed that on June 10, four armed men allegedly stormed the couple’s room, attacked them, and opened fire.

According to police sources, Apam Azubilla managed to shout for help during the attack.

His brother, Ayubugre Apam, rushed to the scene and found the couple lying in pools of blood.

The victims were rushed for treatment, but Apam Anomsigna was pronounced dead on arrival at the Zegoyire Health Centre.

Her husband was later confirmed dead at the Zebilla District Hospital.

Police say both victims suffered gunshot wounds, while three spent AK-47 shells recovered from the scene were handed over to investigators by family members.

The suspects remain in police custody and are expected to appear in court in the coming days as investigations continue.
