NPP will not forget recent arrests — Ellen Ama Daaku

Former Deputy National Women’s Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ellen Ama Daaku, has reacted strongly to the recent arrests and detention involving some NPP activists and communicators, warning that the party will not forget what she describes as politically motivated actions against its members.

According to her, “crime has no expiration date,” insisting that the NPP would revisit and pursue individuals who made false allegations against former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo once the party returns to power.

Her comments come amid growing concerns within the opposition NPP over the arrest and persecution of some party members and social media activists by state security agencies.

In recent months, some outspoken NPP supporters and communicators, including Bono Regional Chairman Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, as well as other members and social media personalities such as Baba Amando and Sir Obama Pokuasi, have reportedly faced arrests or interrogations over comments made online and on radio platforms.

Speaking in reaction to the situation, Ellen Ama Daaku argued that many allegations made against former President Akufo-Addo and officials of his administration were deliberately fabricated to damage their reputation.

She maintained that some individuals spread false claims against the former President without evidence and should be prepared to answer for their actions in the future.

Such false claims in the Nana Addo administration include allegations against Gyankroma Akufo-Addo, daughter of the former President, over claims she received a multimillion-dollar contract during her father’s administration.

The allegations were strongly denied by her and the supporters of the former government.

Ellen Ama Daaku believes these false allegations in the past must be revisited and perpetrators punished in the future NPP administration.
