Ghana Meteo alert Ghanaians as storms move across Ghana

The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has warned that thunderstorms and rainfall will affect many parts of the country, especially the northern, transition, and coastal areas.

In its latest weather report, GMet said some parts of the Volta Region have already started experiencing thunderstorms and rain.

The storms developed after a rain system moved inland from the coasts of Togo and Benin. The system is expected to continue moving westward and may also affect parts of the Eastern, Greater Accra, and Ashanti regions.

GMet further explained that another moderate rainstorm currently over the northeastern part of the country is likely to move westward as well.

This system could bring cloudy weather and thunderstorms, with or without rain, across the Northern and Transition sectors from the morning through the afternoon.

The agency also noted that rain-bearing clouds gathering off Ghana’s western coastline may cause rainfall in some western coastal communities.

GMet warned that strong winds could occur before the storms begin and advised the public to take safety precautions.

Authorities have urged residents in the affected areas to stay alert, avoid places that easily flood, and secure loose items that strong winds could blow away.
