NACOC seizes five million tapentadol tablets in major bust

The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has intercepted a large consignment of suspected drugs in a major anti-narcotics operation.

The seizure involved a 40-foot trailer loaded with about five million tablets of Tapentadol 250mg.

According to NACOC, the operation was based on intelligence gathered over time.

Officers tracked the movement of the trailer and successfully stopped it before it could leave the country.

The consignment was reportedly being transported to Niger.

Four suspects have been arrested in connection with the shipment.

They are currently in custody and assisting investigators to uncover more details about the operation.

Authorities believe the arrest could lead to the identification of a wider network involved in drug traffickinacross borders.

Tapentadol is a strong painkiller that is sometimes abused due to its opioid properties.

In large quantities, it can be dangerous and is often linked to illegal drug trade activities. NACOC officials say the interception has prevented a significant amount of the substance from reaching the black market and protecting public health.

Investigations are ongoing, and NACOC says more arrests could be made as efforts continue to track down all those connected to the shipment.
