Shatta Wale: I want to help groom someone greater than me

Shatta Wale has made it clear that he wants to be remembered for more than just producing hit songs.

He hopes to shape the future of Ghanaian music by helping a new “street king” rise.

Speaking in Accra during the launch of the Student Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) @ 20 Song Competition, he explained that supporting young talent has become a personal mission.

He believes the next big star could come from anywhere, and he wants to guide that journey.

“I am ready to nurture the next Shatta Wale. If there is another street king coming, I want to be part of that journey. I want to see someone even greater than me,” he said.

He also took time to encourage his followers to take education seriously. The competition, organised with Hotwav GH, is part of activities marking 20 years of the Student Loan Trust Fund.

Earlier in April 2026, he had already highlighted education as a powerful tool for success.

For the artist behind “Melissa,” the contest is not limited to music alone. He views it as a platform that can change lives and create real opportunities.

“This is not just about music. It is about building lives, building dreams and building the next big name. If you are a singer, a rapper or any talent, just bring your energy. We are going to pick a winner who will stand with me on stage,” he said.

He stressed that the true value of the competition goes beyond financial rewards. He wants participants who are driven, hardworking, and ready to grow within the industry.

“I want to see raw talent. I want to see energy. I want someone who is ready to work hard and take this industry further. If you win, you are not just winning money, you are winning a future.”

“If I can help one person become better than me, then I have done my job. That is the future I want to see,” he added.

The winner will take home $20,000, secure a recording deal with Foxway Records, receive mentorship, and perform live with Shatta Wale during the anniversary event.
