Abu Trica’s lawyers reveal next move after GH₵30m bail

Counsel for Frederick Kumi, popularly known as Abu Trica have outlined their next line of action following the High Court’s decision to grant him bail in his ongoing extradition case.

The court granted him bail in the sum of GH₵30 million with two sureties, a condition the defence team says it is now working to satisfy to secure his release from custody.

The legal team indicated that while efforts are underway to meet the bail requirements, preparations are also ongoing for the next phase of the legal battle.

Reacting to developments in the case, a member of the defence team raised concerns about the circumstances surrounding the proceedings.

“This is a bit difficult, but there’s a political connection,” the lawyer said.

The team further clarified that the court’s decision does not amount to immediate extradition to the United States.

“This does not mean Abu Trica will be extradited immediately,” the lawyer explained.

According to the defence, they are exploring all available legal options, including a possible appeal within the stipulated time frame.

The lawyers say they have a “15-day window to file an appeal” as part of their strategy.

Abu Trica was arrested in December 2025 over alleged links to an international cybercrime syndicate accused of orchestrating large-scale romance scams.

Authorities in the United States are seeking his extradition to face multiple fraud-related charges.

While the bail ruling offers temporary relief, defence team members said, the case is entering a critical stage, as the courts prepare to determine whether the extradition request will ultimately be upheld.

For now, attention remains on whether the defence can meet the stringent bail conditions, including the provision of two sureties and how the legal battle will unfold in the coming weeks.
