Queiroz sends message of solidarity to flood victims on behalf of Black Stars

Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has expressed deep sympathy for victims of the recent devastating floods in Accra, assuring affected families that the national team stands with them during this difficult period.

In a heartfelt message released on behalf of himself, his technical team, and the Black Stars squad currently in the United States, Queiroz said the team is fully aware of the suffering caused by the floods, which have displaced many residents and claimed several lives.

He noted that although the team is focused on preparations for their upcoming FIFA World Cup fixture against Colombia, their thoughts remain firmly with Ghanaians back home.

“To the families who have lost loved ones, those who have been displaced from their homes, and everyone affected, we are with you,” Queiroz said. “The images and reports from home are heartbreaking.”

The Portuguese coach stressed that moments of national tragedy remind the team that football takes a secondary role, adding that the Black Stars see Ghana as one united family.

“In moments like this, we are reminded that football is secondary. Ghana is one family. When Accra suffers, we all suffer,” he stated.

Queiroz added that the team will carry the people of Accra in their hearts when they step onto the pitch at the Kansas City Stadium on July 3 for their World Cup match.

He said the resilience of affected citizens serves as motivation for the squad, promising that the players will give their all to bring pride and hope to the country during this challenging time.
