Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz says Ghana is ready to respond to their opening defeat to Côte d’Ivoire when they face The Gambia in their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations Group C qualifier today, Tuesday, September 29.
Speaking after the team’s final training session on Monday, Queiroz confirmed that 22 players are fit and available for the crucial encounter at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Ronald remains the only doubt, with the coach hoping the player can recover in time to make the bench.
Queiroz said the team had learned important lessons from the 1-0 defeat to Côte d’Ivoire and had used the preparation period to improve key areas, particularly finishing.
“We always win or learn, and we learned something in that game,” he said.
The Portuguese coach believes Ghana created some of the best chances in the previous game but failed to make the most of them.
He is therefore expecting a more efficient attacking display against The Gambia.
“If we want to win the game, we have to have the ball with us, we have to recover the ball, keep the ball with us,” Queiroz said.
He also urged Ghanaian supporters to focus their backing on the players available for the match rather than those who are absent.
The Black Stars will be seeking their first points of the qualifying campaign when they take on The Gambia in Accra.
