Ghana’s persistence was rewarded when the team was awarded a penalty of its own. Josephine Bonsu stepped up and calmly converted from the spot to restore Ghana’s advantage.
Côte d’Ivoire pushed forward in the closing stages in search of another equaliser, but the Black Queens remained organised and defended their lead.
The Ghanaian team managed the final moments of the game well to secure the important 2-1 victory.
