Police arrest two with 519 parcels of suspected Indian hemp in Gomoa East

The Central Regional Police Command has arrested two individuals in possession of 519 compressed parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

The suspects, identified as 30-year-old Eric Nkyeke and 28-year-old Francis Klu, were apprehended while offloading the parcels from a Toyota Hilux pick-up truck (registration number GS 6849-21) at Nyanyano in the Gomoa East District.

Police say the suspects are currently in custody and assisting with ongoing investigations. The vehicle used in the operation has also been impounded.

In an official statement, the Command commended the Nyanyano District police officers for their swift action and vigilance, which led to the arrest.

The public is being encouraged to remain watchful and to report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station to support efforts in combating crime and drug trafficking.
