The Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has dispatched a specialised team of operational officers, supported by armoured vehicles, to Gushegu and Karaga in the Northern Region in response to recent conflicts in the area.

This initiative aims to restore tranquillity and enhance security in the impacted towns and neighbouring communities following a rise in tensions in recent days.

A statement released on Wednesday, April 15, stated that the deployed officers will collaborate closely with personnel from the Northern Regional Police Command to increase patrols, uphold public order, and avert any further incidents of violence.

The reinforcement comprises both personnel and specialised operational resources designed to boost rapid-response capabilities and enhance visibility in policing throughout the affected regions.

Security officials indicate that this enhanced deployment is part of broader efforts to stabilise the situation and reassure residents as security operations progress.

The Inspector-General of Police underscored that the presence of the special team is anticipated to strengthen ongoing initiatives by local police units, particularly in preserving peace and protecting lives and property.

Residents of Gushegu and Karaga have been encouraged to remain composed and cooperate with security personnel as patrols are intensified and intelligence-led operations are escalated.
