The Tema Regional Police Command has disclosed that officers rejected an alleged GH¢150,000 bribe offered by a suspect seeking the release of a truck carrying 5,039 compressed parcels of suspected narcotic substances intercepted at Afienya.
The disclosure was made by the Tema Regional Police Commander, DCOP Eric Asamoah Asiedu, during a press briefing on Thursday, July 23, 2026, on recent anti-crime operations in the region.
According to the Police Commander, officers acting on intelligence intercepted a tipper truck at Afienya suspected to be transporting narcotics, leading to the arrest of two suspects who have since been remanded into custody.
He said one of the suspects later attempted to induce the officers with GH¢150,000 to secure the release of the truck and its contents, but the officers rejected the offer.
“Our officers rejected an alleged GH¢150,000 bribe offered by a suspect who sought the release of the truck carrying the suspected narcotic substances,” DCOP Asiedu said.
The seized substances remain in police custody as investigations continue, with efforts underway to identify and arrest other individuals linked to the suspected drug trafficking operation.
