The Ghana Police Service says Harold Norman, husband of Ghanaian fashion icon Rosemond Akua Adobea, popularly known as Nana Akua Addo, will be arraigned as soon as he is discharged from hospital.
The assurance comes after videos and images circulated on social media, reportedly involving Nana Akua Addo and her child. Some of the footage appears to show the fashion icon with visible injuries following an alleged physical altercation.
Separate footage also purportedly shows her child being subjected to physical violence.
In a statement dated Wednesday, October 7, 2026, the Police said the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) received a petition from Nana Akua Addo on August 20, alleging that her husband had subjected her to physical, emotional and economic abuse.
According to the Police, preliminary investigations established that the couple had previously come to the attention of the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) at the Lakeside and Ministries Police Stations in July 2026.
After receiving the petition, Harold Norman was arrested at his residence on August 27 to assist with investigations.
He was later cautioned and granted Police enquiry bail on August 29 with two sureties, while investigations continued.
The Police said he was scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, October 7, but his lawyer informed investigators that he had been admitted to hospital and could not appear.
“Investigators from DOVVSU have visited the said hospital to verify the claim and are monitoring the situation to ensure he is arraigned immediately upon discharge from the hospital,” Police said.
The CID and the Gender Ministry are also collaborating to ensure that Nana Akua Addo and her child receive the necessary social welfare support.
