The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has started investigating reports of a major drug seizure in Australia that has been linked to Ghana.
According to reports, the Australian Federal Police (AFP) intercepted about 320 kilograms of methamphetamine hidden in a shipment that was sent from Ghana to Australia.
In a statement issued on June 19, 2026, and signed by PNCO Francis Opoku Amoah, Acting Director of Public Affairs and International Relations, NACOC said it is aware of the incident and has begun investigations to determine exactly how the shipment was organised and who was involved.
The Commission said it is working with local security agencies and international partners to track down and arrest all persons connected to the attempted drug trafficking operation.
“NACOC remains committed to strengthening international cooperation and ensuring that Ghana’s territory and commercial channels are not exploited by transnational drug trafficking networks,” the statement said.
