Ho Central inmates educated on effects of drug abuse

Officials from the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) have educated inmates at the Ho Central and Female Prisons about the dangers of drug abuse as part of activities marking this year’s World Drug Day.

ANCO Millicent Marfo led the outreach programme, while Superintendent Ben Adomah, an Assistant Physician at the Reformers Health Centre, facilitated the session.

The programme focused on raising awareness of the harmful effects of substance abuse.

It also encouraged inmates to adopt healthier lifestyles, support their rehabilitation, and prepare for a successful return to society.

During the session, facilitators explained the stages of addiction and how drug abuse can gradually affect a person’s physical, mental and psychological health.

The organisers said the initiative forms part of broader efforts to educate inmates and help them make informed choices about their health and future.
