Damang Mines: This was merit, not favour – Edudzi Tamakloe

The Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority, Godwin Edudzi Tamakloe, has dismissed allegations of favoritism in the awarding of the Damang Mines contract, asserting that the process was both transparent and competitive.

He emphasized that all bidders adhered to the established rules during a panel discussion.

“The process was competitive. Highly competitive. It was not a handpicked situation,” he said.

He clarified that participants were required to showcase their technical and financial capabilities.

“Everybody came to show their capabilities, their numbers, and their ability,” he noted.

He stated that Engineers and Planners were recognized as the top performer, achieving a strong evaluation score.

“They scored 93.15 percent. That score has not been impugned by anybody whatsoever. Merit, merit, merit,” he stressed.

He further mentioned that no bidder contested the rules governing the process prior to their participation.

“They accepted the guidelines. It would have been different if someone had challenged the rules from the beginning,” he said.
