Residents of Tema Community 25 have appealed to the authorities to urgently address a persistent water shortage that has affected the area for more than two months.
The residents on Tuesday, October 6, visited the Ghana Water Limited (GWL) office at Gbetsile to seek answers and demand an explanation for the irregular supply of potable water to the community.
According to them, several parts of Community 25 have gone for weeks without a reliable flow of water, forcing households to depend on alternative sources to meet their daily needs.
Some residents said the situation had also increased their financial burden, as they have been compelled to purchase water at higher prices to supplement the limited supply.
The prolonged shortage has reportedly disrupted several aspects of daily life, including household activities, education and businesses within the community.
A member of the Community 25 Residents Association, Prosper Segbey, said the crisis was having a significant impact on residents, particularly students, workers and business owners.
He appealed to the government and relevant agencies to intervene and ensure that a lasting solution was found to the problem.
“We need urgent action because the situation is becoming increasingly difficult for residents,” he said.
The residents’ concerns come amid growing frustration over the lack of a consistent supply of potable water in parts of the community.
Chairman of the Community 25 Residents Association, Van-Gogh Bagnaba, urged residents to remain calm as the association continues discussions with Ghana Water Limited.
He said the leadership of the residents’ association was engaging the water utility company with the aim of securing the restoration of a regular water supply.
Residents are now hoping the engagement will lead to concrete measures to end the shortage and restore normal water services to affected households.
