Body of drowned 30-year-old electrician recovered at Ga South

The body of a 30-year-old electrician, recognised as Razak Gideon, has been recovered at Nsuo Na Ano (Peace Town) within the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.

Gideon was carried away by the Agyei River, which had breached its banks while he was attempting to save a 17-year-old BECE graduate from the floodwaters at Atia, also located in the Ga South Municipality.

The remains of the deceased were discovered on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, in the morning near a bridge in Nsuo Na Ano.

An eyewitness, Kwaku Ankomanin, said that “the deceased was an electrician who was at work. He attempted to rescue someone who had been trapped in the floods. There were two, but one was able to swim out, leaving him. We found his remains this morning. He’s in his 30s”.

In the meantime, a former assemblyman from the area, Zakari Ali, has urged for more stringent law enforcement against individuals who have erected buildings in the watercourse, thereby hindering the natural flow.
