Annoh-Dompreh donates food supplies to Nsawam inmates, visits Wontumi

Minority Chief Whip and Nsawam-Adoagyiri MP Frank Annoh-Dompreh has donated food items and other essential supplies to inmates of the Nsawam Medium Security Prison as part of efforts to support their welfare.

The donation, made on Wednesday, October 14, included bags of rice, maize, gari, sugar, milk, bottled water and soap to help meet some of the inmates’ daily needs.

Mr Annoh-Dompreh was accompanied by constituency executives during the visit, which he described as part of his humanitarian and public service responsibilities.

The visit also gave the MP an opportunity to meet Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, who is being held at the prison facility.

Speaking during the presentation, Mr Annoh-Dompreh said the items were intended to supplement the food supplies available to inmates, particularly as the year approaches its end.

He acknowledged that the donation might not be sufficient to address all the needs of the prison but said it was a modest contribution towards improving conditions for those in custody.

He also appealed to prison authorities to ensure that the supplies were distributed to the intended beneficiaries.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Ghana Prisons Service, a prison official expressed appreciation to the MP and his entourage for the gesture.
