The Lower Manya Krobo Circuit Court in the Eastern Region has sentenced a 35-year-old unemployed man to four weeks in prison for stealing a bunch of plantain valued at GH¢200.
The accused, identified as Anani Bakar, was convicted after he was found to have unlawfully taken the plantain from a farm at Nuaso Newtown.
According to reports, the case followed a series of alleged crop thefts from the farm, which had reportedly raised concerns among the farm owner.
Bakar was eventually caught on the complainant’s farm on August 16, 2026, while allegedly attempting to steal farm produce.
He was subsequently arrested and brought before the Lower Manya Krobo Circuit Court, where the case was heard.
The court, after considering the circumstances of the case, sentenced Bakar to four weeks’ imprisonment.
