A tragic road accident occurred at Nsuatre Amamfoso in the Bono Region, resulting in the death of a hearse driver after a head-on collision with a Kia truck on Friday, May 8, 2026, between 7:00 pm and 8:00 pm.

According to reports, the hearse was transporting a corpse from Sunyani to Koraso when it collided head-on with the Kia truck near Nsuatre Amamfoso.

The collision resulted in the immediate death of the hearse driver, while the driver of the Kia truck suffered severe, life-threatening injuries.

The remains of the deceased hearse driver were taken to the Holy Family Catholic Hospital morgue in Berekum.

Family members who were traveling in the hearse subsequently arranged for an alternative vehicle to continue the journey and transport the corpse to Koraso.

Emergency personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) and the Ghana Police Service in both Berekum and Nsuatre responded promptly to the incident, working to clear the road and restore traffic flow.

Residents have expressed concern regarding this stretch of road, as it has reportedly been the site of numerous fatal accidents over the past five years, resulting in over 20 fatalities and many others suffering serious injuries.

In response to the incident, security agencies have initiated investigations into the crash and are advising drivers to exercise caution and adhere strictly to road safety regulations to avert further tragedies.
