The Electricity Company of Ghana has scheduled both planned and emergency maintenance activities across four regions for Wednesday, April 22, 2026.
This is to enable engineers to address issues with faulty underground cables and damaged high-tension poles that left numerous communities without power on Tuesday.
According to advisories released by the power distributor, these coordinated efforts are intended to improve service reliability and tackle pressing network problems.
The outages will begin at different times in the affected areas, with the duration varying based on the extent of the work to be performed at each site.
In the Accra West Region, a scheduled maintenance activity will take place from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, impacting Amasaman, Plywood, Bubuashie E.P. Church, and nearby areas.
This eight-hour outage will affect both residential and commercial sectors.
In the Western Region, a planned maintenance operation is set to occur from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, impacting Achantaman, parts of West Tanokrom, and adjacent areas.
In the Central Region, a scheduled maintenance exercise will take place from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, affecting Tuba township, Mama Africa, Lamgba, and surrounding regions.
An emergency maintenance operation is scheduled to take place from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, impacting a wide range of communities, including Abotareye, Hiawa, Nkakaa, Manso Amenfi, Akyekyere, Bonuama, Suroso, Asankragwa, Mota, Kwesi Bokoro, Aboi Nkwata, Dunkwa, Enhie, M-T-N, Samreboi, Moseaso, Asakra Breman, Odumasi, and nearby areas.
These planned interventions are a response to the ECG’s ongoing efforts to address the consequences of several network faults that occurred on Tuesday, 21st April 2026.
In the Accra East Region, a malfunctioning underground high-tension cable at Agbogba caused power disruptions to Ashongman Estate, Ashongman Atakora Estate, Ashongman Aggies Spot, and adjacent areas.
In the Volta Region, a damaged high-tension pole on the Agortoe T-off impacted Hadota, Adzato, Vorvonukope, Sokutime, Aflato, Sodzi, Kpordui, and the surrounding regions.
In its public announcements, the ECG expressed its apologies to all customers affected, recognising the inconvenience brought about by both the scheduled maintenance and the unforeseen network faults.
The company assured the public that its engineers are working tirelessly to rectify all network problems while highlighting that the planned activities are essential for ensuring the long-term stability of the power network throughout the regions.
