Fast-rising Ghanaian artist and 25th TGMA Unsung winner Kwesi Amewuga has conveyed his enthusiasm regarding his nomination in the Best Hiplife Song category at the 2026 Telecel Ghana Music Awards.

Speaking in an interview, the rapper expressed that he feels privileged to be competing alongside some of the most prominent figures in the Ghanaian music scene.

“I’ve been nominated for Best Hiplife Song of the Year alongside Medikal, Sarkodie and others. I feel great to be nominated with the giants of the industry,” he said.

Kwesi Amewuga noted that sharing a category with well-established artists represents a significant milestone for him, especially considering that he used to follow and discuss award categories as a fan in previous years.

“Some years ago, we were the ones voting and debating on who would win what and now, I’m in the category with Sarkodie and Medikal,” he stated on TV3.

The artist acknowledged that the competition brings about pressure, but he is confident that his unique sound provides him with an edge over the other nominees.

“Competition-wise, there’s a lot of pressure on me, looking at the people I’m competing with. Talking of Hiplife, when you listen to my sound, it’s full Hiplife. That’s the advantage I think I have over them and that should let me win,” he shared.

Kwesi Amewuga also discussed the importance of winning the TGMA Unsung Artiste award, describing it as a significant source of inspiration.

“The Unsung award I received is really precious to me. I kept it where I would be seeing it often because it means a lot. Anytime I see it, it motivates me to work harder and keep going,” he added.
