Angelique Kidjo has been honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame’s Class of 2026, becoming the first African woman to receive the recognition.
Stonebwoy celebrated the milestone, describing Kidjo as his “Africa mama” and godmother and reflecting on their musical relationship.
The Ghanaian artiste recalled performing with Kidjo at the Royal Albert Hall and said BHIMNATION would have “bragging rights forever.”
Ghanaian dancehall artiste Stonebwoy has celebrated Beninese music icon Angelique Kidjo after she was named among the recipients of a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame’s Class of 2026.
Kidjo, a five-time Grammy winner, received the honour in the Recording category, joining a prestigious list of music stars including Miley Cyrus, Josh Groban, Lyle Lovett and Air Supply.
The recognition makes Kidjo the first African woman to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, marking another major milestone in her more than four-decade career.
Reacting to the honour, Stonebwoy took to X to reflect on his relationship and collaborations with the legendary musician, describing her as his “Africa mama” and godmother.

Stonebwoy’s message highlighted the significance of his longstanding connection with Kidjo and the opportunities he has had to share the stage with the international music icon.

The Ghanaian artiste has previously collaborated with Kidjo and performed alongside her at the Royal Albert Hall in London during celebrations marking her 40-year career in music.
Kidjo’s Hollywood Walk of Fame recognition adds to an already remarkable career that has seen her become one of Africa’s most influential musical exports.
Born in Benin, the singer has released 18 albums and built a global career by blending West African musical traditions with influences from different parts of the world.
Her Hollywood honour places her among some of the biggest names in global entertainment and further highlights the growing recognition of African music and artists on the international stage.
For Stonebwoy, however, the moment is also personal.
His message shows the pride he takes in having not only worked with one of Africa’s most celebrated musicians but also maintained a relationship with her that extends beyond music.
And as he put it, BHIMNATION now has bragging rights forever.
