Fancy Gadam has taken fans back to one of the biggest financial decisions of his career, when he had to pay Sarkodie a staggering GH¢120,000 to perform at his concert in 2017.
The revelation came while Fancy Gadam was speaking about his collaboration with Sarkodie and the business surrounding their work together, in an interview on Joy Prime.
According to the ‘Total Cheat’ hitmaker, he did not personally negotiate the collaboration with Sarkodie because his manager handled those discussions.
He said he initially thought the collaboration might be free because of the close relationship between Sarkodie and his manager, who, according to Fancy Gadam, had known the rapper for years.
The payment came when Sarkodie was booked to perform at Fancy Gadam’s concert in 2017.
Fancy Gadam recalled that his team paid GH¢120,000 for the rapper’s appearance, describing it as a difficult amount to raise at the time.
“This was 2017. 1.2 billion old currency. It was hard, but you know, you need it, and trust me, I don’t regret it,” he said.
For Fancy Gadam, the expense was justified by what Sarkodie brought to the project. He believes the rapper’s involvement helped push their song and gave his music exposure beyond his existing audience.
He also credited Sarkodie with helping to open more doors for him professionally.
Despite the hefty payment, Fancy Gadam said he does not consider the money wasted, insisting that Sarkodie deserved the fee and even more.
