The preliminary round of the 2026/27 MTN FA Cup has produced several intriguing fixtures, with former Ghana Premier League sides set to battle for early progression following Tuesday’s draw.
The preliminary round will feature clubs from the Division One and Division Two Leagues, while all 18 Ghana Premier League clubs have been exempted and will enter the competition at the Round of 64.
One of the standout fixtures is the Bono derby between Victory Club Warriors FC and Eleven Wonders FC in Group One. Both sides have experience in the top flight and will be eager to advance as they pursue their respective ambitions this season.
Group Two also promises excitement, with Real Tamale United facing Yapei United in a Northern derby. Tamale City FC will take on Wa Power SC in another potentially competitive encounter involving two sides with Division One pedigree.
In Group Five, former Premier League campaigners King Faisal FC will begin their campaign against Pro Sports Academy, while Ebony FC face a difficult test against Nations FC.
Relegated Great Olympics FC have been drawn against Msk Zilina FC in Group Eight, setting up an interesting contest between the experienced Accra-based club and an academy side known for developing young talent.
Accra Lions FC will also face John Paintsil FC in the same group, while Golden Kick SC, last season’s finalists, meet Attram De Visser in another eye-catching fixture.
Elsewhere, Eastern Region rivals Okwawu United FC and Kotoku Royals FC will clash in Group Nine, while Sefwi All Stars FC host Skyy FC in a Western Region derby in Group Seven.
