About 830 aspirants have picked nomination forms to contest various positions in the upcoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) Greater Accra Regional elections, according to the party.
The figure was recorded after the close of the nomination form-picking period, with aspirants now required to complete the filing process before the elections.
Speaking to Accra-based Channel One News, NDC Deputy Director of Elections, Mahdi Gibril, disclosed that most of the party’s incumbent regional executives had also picked forms to seek another term.
“About 830 aspirants have picked forms to contest for various positions. Majority of the incumbent executives have picked nomination,” he noted.
Mr Gibril said those who have collected nomination forms must proceed to pay their filing fees and submit the required information through the party’s online platform.
He added that once the online submission has been completed, aspirants must physically present their full nomination documents to the Election Committee.
The physical submission of nomination documents is scheduled to take place on October 14 and 15.
However, the online platform will continue to be accessible to aspirants who have already collected forms but have not yet paid their filing fees or completed the mandatory online submission process.
