Portugal head coach Jorge Jesus has responded to Cristiano Ronaldo’s recent statement, insisting that his focus remains firmly on his responsibilities with the national team.
Jesus said he had read Ronaldo’s comments but chose not to engage further with the matter, instead emphasising his intention to concentrate on his work with the Portuguese Football Federation and the national team.
“I read the statement. And now, I’m going to do what I do every day: I’m going to work at the Federation, think about the team and the Portuguese national team. I have nothing else to add,” Jesus said, as reported by Record Portugal.
The experienced coach’s brief response comes amid attention surrounding Ronaldo’s comments, with the Portugal captain’s statement generating discussion among supporters and football observers.
Rather than addressing the details of Ronaldo’s remarks, Jesus made it clear that he would continue with his duties and keep his attention on preparations for the national team.
Ronaldo remains one of Portugal’s most prominent players and a key figure in the country’s football history, while Jesus has the responsibility of guiding the national side through its upcoming assignments.
Jesus’ response suggests that he does not intend to allow the issue to distract from his work, with the coach instead choosing to focus on the team and his responsibilities at the federation.
