The Africa Basketball Festival (ABF) is set to return to Ghana in December, with eight teams from eight countries expected to compete in a five-day basketball showcase at the University of Ghana Basketball Court.
The 2026 edition will run from December 9 to 13, with matches scheduled to begin at 3pm daily.
The festival has become an important part of Ghana’s December sporting calendar, combining competitive basketball with music, fashion and entertainment to attract both local fans and visitors.
This year’s event will feature eight international teams, while six leading Ghanaian fashion houses will also participate in fashion showcases. Emerging musicians will add to the entertainment package through performances under the ABF Music Rising Star initiative.
The organisers are positioning the festival as more than a basketball competition, with the event designed to provide fans with a broader sports and entertainment experience during Ghana’s busy December period.
The ABF reached its fifth anniversary in 2025 with a five-day programme at the University of Ghana Basketball Court. That edition featured teams from five countries, five fashion brands and five musical performances.
Nigeria claimed the basketball title in 2025, ending Ghana’s dominance of the competition after the hosts had won each of the first four editions.
