Bolt driver jailed 25 years for cutlass attack, robbery of beautician

An Adenta Circuit Court has sentenced 22-year-old motor mechanic and Bolt driver Emmanuel Kofi Mensah to 25 years in hard labour after he pleaded guilty to robbing beautician Yvonne Dzane Dzifa at Mantey Farms, Adenta.

The incident occurred on September 23, 2026, after Dzifa booked Mensah’s Bolt service from Madina Zongo Junction to Adenta.

Prosecutors said Mensah drove past her destination, locked the vehicle and later stopped at Mantey Farms, where he demanded her belongings.

When she resisted, he allegedly attacked her with a cutlass, injuring her wrist and little finger before taking her bag containing two iPhones, GH¢3,200 and other items.

Mensah was arrested the following day after attempting to sell one of the stolen phones at an Apple shop in Madina Zongo Junction. Police also recovered the cutlass allegedly used in the attack.

Mensah admitted the offence and pleaded for forgiveness. Police investigations are continuing to identify and arrest an alleged accomplice.
