The Accra High Court has adjourned the case involving Senior Nursing Officer Salomey Awiti Baffoe to October 5, 2026.
The case was adjourned on Wednesday, September 30, due to the ongoing Association of Judges and Magistrates Conference.
Ms Baffoe is facing an abetment of crime charge over the alleged publication and circulation of false news on social media.
The adjournment means she will remain in custody after the High Court rejected her bail application on September 24.
The court previously upheld the prosecution’s argument that her release could interfere with witnesses and ongoing investigations, particularly given the cyber-related nature of the case.
The prosecution was subsequently directed to expedite its investigations.
Ms Baffoe’s lawyer, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, had argued that she was presumed innocent and that the prosecution had not provided sufficient grounds to justify her continued detention.
The defence also maintained that the charge was a misdemeanour and challenged the claim that she could interfere with investigations if granted bail.
Another member of the defence team, Enoch Afoakwa, questioned the evidential basis for the court’s concerns, arguing that the Republic had relied mainly on “bare depositions” rather than evidence showing that Ms Baffoe could interfere with witnesses or investigations.
The defence has indicated plans to challenge the bail refusal, including through an appeal.
Police allege that Ms Baffoe acted as a liaison for UK-based TikTok personality Barbara Asantewaa Kodua, popularly known as “Ghana Jollof”, and helped recruit individuals to redistribute her videos on social media.
Investigators further allege that money was transferred between the two women to facilitate the distribution of the content, with portions subsequently shared with others involved.
Ms Kodua has been declared wanted as investigations continue into alleged publication of false news, inciteful comments and offensive conduct linked to the “Ghana Jollof” account.
