Germany head coach Jürgen Klopp has introduced a number of new rules for his players as he begins his tenure with the national team.
According to reports from Germany, the former Liverpool manager wants greater discipline and togetherness within the squad, with changes covering meal times, phone use, grooming and family visits during tournaments.
One of the main changes concerns punctuality. Players will now be expected to arrive for team meals at the same time rather than coming in gradually during an agreed period.
The rule is intended to give the squad more opportunities to sit together, interact and build stronger relationships away from the pitch.
Klopp has also restricted the use of mobile phones around matches. Players will reportedly not be allowed to use their phones during pre-match activation sessions, including when warming up or receiving treatment.
Haircuts at the team hotel have also been prohibited under the new arrangements. Players are expected to take care of such personal grooming before reporting for international duty.
Family visits are another area where Klopp has made changes. Unlike the more open approach under former coach Julian Nagelsmann, family access during major tournaments is expected to be limited to selected occasions.
The changes are part of Klopp’s wider plans to establish his approach with the Germany squad and strengthen the team’s sense of unity. The rules were developed following discussions involving Klopp and his coaching staff.
Klopp was appointed Germany head coach in August and has already named his first squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League matches.
The German Football Association confirmed that his first games will be against the Netherlands on September 24 and Greece on September 27.
