Four Ghanaians have been arraigned before the High Court in Accra over an alleged attempt to export nearly four tonnes of cocaine from Ghana to France.
The accused persons are Desmond Koranteng Curiel, also known as Paul Kweku Yeboah or “Biggs”; Musah Attah, alias “Kromo”; Kweku Otchere; and Jessica Hartog.
They appeared before the court on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, and are facing two charges.
The first is conspiracy to commit a crime, specifically the exportation of narcotic drugs without a licence issued by the Minister of Health. The second charge relates to the alleged exportation of narcotic drugs.
Following their arraignment, the four accused were remanded into custody for four weeks. They are expected to return to court on October 13, 2026.
A fifth suspect, Dutch national Jos Leijdekkers, also known as “Bolle Jos”, is currently said to be at large.
The case follows the seizure of about 3.9 tonnes of cocaine by French customs authorities at the northern French port of Dunkirk on September 10, 2026.
The drugs, reportedly valued at about €225 million, were concealed in a container carrying plastic waste that had arrived from Ghana. Some of the consignment was reportedly intended for Antwerp in Belgium.
Following the seizure, Ghana’s Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) announced the arrest of persons suspected of being connected to the shipment.
According to NACOC, the four accused allegedly represented and facilitated the activities of Leijdekkers while he operated in Ghana.
The Commission said it began working with French authorities to obtain information on the seized consignment and support investigations into how the cocaine allegedly left Ghana.
