The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested six persons suspected to be members of an organised armed robbery syndicate operating in the region.
The suspects were arrested by the Regional Anti-Armed Robbery Unit during intelligence-led operations targeting suspected criminal activities in Kumasi and other parts of the Ashanti Region.
They have been identified as Philip Nyarko, alias Kawawa, 23; Hadi Samed, alias Toronto, 20; Issahaku Musah, alias Isak, 23; Suraj Mohammed, alias Baba Nde and Trouble, 27; Hadi Abdul Majeed, alias Panie, 23; and Foster Owusu Afriyie, alias Joe Fraizer, 45.
Speaking at a press conference at the Ashanti Regional Police Headquarters, Regional Police Commander DCOP Osei Akoto said six other suspects identified as Andy, Umaru, Dauda, Malik, Abdul Shattar and Abdul Farouk remain at large.
He said the Police have intensified efforts to track down the suspects still on the run.
The operation also led to the recovery of six laptops, three tablets, several mobile phones, machetes and knives.
DCOP Osei Akoto disclosed that some of the suspects had previously been arrested on December 6, 2025, over alleged conspiracy to commit robbery and attempted robbery.
They were subsequently arraigned before the Asokwa Circuit Court 1, where the case remains pending, and were granted bail.
According to the Regional Commander, investigations conducted after their release suggested that some of the suspects had allegedly returned to criminal activities.
The six arrested suspects are currently in police custody and are being prepared for prosecution.
