The people of Tepa Ankaase in the Ahafo Ano North Municipality of the Ashanti Region have installed a new Odikro, Nana Kwadwo Addai Osei Bonsu I, to lead efforts to promote unity and development in the community.
The new chief, known in private life as Kwadwo Osei Bonsu, swore the Oath of Allegiance to the Otumfuo Akwaboahene, Nana Kusi Agyapong Appau I, and the people of Ankaase on Friday, August 28, at the Akwaboah Palace.
At the ceremony, the Akwaboahene urged Nana Kwadwo Addai Osei Bonsu I to serve with humility, honesty, and dedication while upholding Asante traditions.
He also cautioned the new Odikro against repeating the mistakes that led to the removal of his predecessor and urged residents to support his leadership.
Otumfuo Kyeamepanin, Nana Kwaku Wusu II, further charged the new chief to protect Ankaase lands against illegal mining, warning that the activity could destroy farmlands and water bodies.
In his address, Nana Kwadwo Addai Osei Bonsu I called on residents to put past differences aside and unite for the development of the community.
He identified education, healthcare, youth employment and infrastructure as key priorities of his reign and appealed to indigenes at home and abroad to support his vision.
“My reign will focus on unity, youth empowerment and development. I call on all sons and daughters of Ankaase, both home and abroad, to come together so we can build a better future for the next generation,” he said.
