Ghana’s Black Asteroids are currently in Casablanca, Morocco, battling some of Africa’s best eFootball teams at the FIFAe Continental Championship Africa as they chase qualification for the FIFAe World Cup 2026.
The tournament, which runs from August 27 to 29, has brought together eight of Africa’s leading eFootball nations. Ghana is competing in the eFootball™ Console category, with the Black Asteroids taking on the continent’s best players.
Behind Ghana’s campaign is a squad built around experience, individual quality and teamwork, with coach Emmanuel Lawson guiding the team through the continental competition.
Lawson has focused on building strong chemistry among the players, especially because of the team-based nature of the competition.
“In a 2v2 event, it is all about teamwork, strong chemistry and strong team spirit and I believe the players will make Ghana proud in the end,” he said.
Frank Adotey Kpakpo – Wondhakid
The Black Asteroids are led by captain Frank Adotey Kpakpo, popularly known as Wondhakid.
With more than 14 years of experience in the esports industry, Wondhakid brings valuable experience to Ghana’s campaign. His fluid style of play allows him to control matches, create opportunities and respond effectively when under pressure.
As captain, he is also expected to provide leadership both on and off the virtual pitch.
“Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships,” Wondhakid said.
Abubakar Abdulganew – Medicinemustshine
Abubakar Abdulganew, known in the eFootball community as Medicinemustshine, is another key player for Ghana.
Known for his aggressive style, Medicine has established himself as one of Ghana’s strongest 1v1 eFootball players and one of the top competitors in West Africa.
He is hoping to use his experience to help Ghana make a strong impression in Casablanca and secure progress towards the FIFAe World Cup.
“I will give my very best to the team and leave everything to Allah. I believe in Him,” he said.
