Ghanaian duo Mukarama and Philomena join Turkish club

Ghanaian women’s footballers Mukarama Abdulai and Philomena Abakah have completed moves to Turkish Women’s Super League side Ünye Kadın FK ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The transfers mark another important step in the careers of the two Ghana internationals, who will now continue their professional journeys in Turkey.

Mukarama, a forward, is one of Ghana’s most recognised young female footballers. She rose to prominence after starring for the Black Maidens at the 2018 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, where she won the Golden Boot after scoring seven goals.

She later played for Northern Ladies before moving to Spanish club Deportivo Alavés. After returning to Ghana, she joined Hasaacas Ladies, where she has continued to contribute in the Women’s Premier League.

Her club statistics show three goals and four assists in nine recorded appearances.

Mukarama has also represented Ghana at various youth levels and the senior national team. She was particularly important in Ghana’s gold medal success at the 2023 African Games, scoring the winning goal against Nigeria in the final.

Abakah, also an attacker, brings valuable international experience to Ünye Kadın FK. She has previously played for Berry Ladies, Simba Queens in Tanzania and Ampem Darkoa Ladies in Ghana.

She has also had spells with clubs in Serbia and India, giving her experience in different football environments.

The two players are expected to add quality and experience to the Turkish club as it prepares for the new campaign.

Ünye Kadın FK has already begun preparations for the 2026/27 Women’s Super League season, with the Ghanaian duo expected to play a role in the club’s campaign.
