From Skyy FC to Ebusua Dwarfs: Super Cup finals revisited

The Division One League Super Cup finals have produced several memorable encounters over the years, with close contests, late drama and penalty shootouts becoming a major feature of the competition.

The 2021 final at the Madina AstroTurf saw Skyy FC face Tema Youth in an entertaining match. The game ended 1-1 after 90 minutes, with Ebenezer Mamatah scoring for Skyy FC and Emmanuel Owusu finding the equaliser for Tema Youth. Skyy FC eventually won 7-6 on penalties to lift the trophy.

In 2022, the final moved to the Kyebi AstroTurf, where Liberty Professionals battled Nsoatreman FC. Unlike the previous edition, the game was decided within regulation time.

Seedorf Asante scored the only goal to give Liberty Professionals a 1-0 victory.

The 2023 final at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex also ended with a narrow win. Bofoakwa Tano faced Skyy FC, with Saaka Dauda scoring the decisive goal to secure a 1-0 victory for Bofoakwa Tano.

The drama returned in 2024 when Vision FC met Okwawu United at Nana Kronamansah Park in Nsoatre. Neither team managed to score during regulation time, resulting in a goalless draw. Vision FC eventually prevailed 7-6 in the penalty shootout.

The 2026 final continued the tradition of closely contested matches. Ebusua Dwarfs and Semper Fi played to a 1-1 draw at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium before Ebusua Dwarfs won 5-4 on penalties.

The results over the years highlight the competitive nature of the Division One League Super Cup. Three of the five finals featured penalty shootouts, while the other two were decided by a single goal.
