Man United close in on Baleba as £65m deal talks continue

Manchester United are closing in on a deal to sign Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Carlos Baleba, with negotiations between the two Premier League clubs continuing over a proposed £65 million package.

According to reports, United have offered £60 million upfront plus a further £5 million in potential add-ons for the Cameroon international.

The offer is currently below Brighton’s valuation, but discussions are ongoing as both clubs work towards reaching an agreement.

Baleba has reportedly already agreed personal terms with Manchester United, bringing the club another step closer to completing the transfer.

The 22-year-old is understood to be preparing to travel to Manchester for his medical, with a five-year contract ready if the deal is formally concluded.

United have maintained an interest in Baleba for some time and previously explored a move for him. However, Brighton’s valuation at the time was believed to be above £100 million, making a transfer difficult.

The midfielder joined Brighton from French club Lille in 2023 for a reported £23 million and has since developed into an important player for the Seagulls.

He has made 112 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring four goals and providing two assists.

The potential move is part of Manchester United’s efforts to strengthen their midfield. The club have already brought in Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa and Andrey Santos from Chelsea during the current transfer window.

Baleba is known for his strength, tackling ability, energy and ability to cover large areas of the pitch. His arrival would give United another option in the defensive midfield role and further strengthen their squad.
