27-year-old man remanded for stealing woman’s pants for ritual purposes in Yola

A 27-year-old man has been remanded at a correctional facility in Yola, Adamawa State, after being accused of breaking into a woman’s residence and stealing 22 pairs of pants for purported ritualistic purposes.

The individual, identified as Muktar Shehu from Zango Ward in Jimeta, was presented before the court by the Police Command on charges of house trespass, theft, and criminal charm.

According to a First Information Report (FIR) submitted to the court by the prosecutor, Inspector Danjuma Hamidu, the incident took place on August 6, 2026.

The prosecution claimed that Shehu unlawfully entered the home of Halima Yakubu and took 22 pairs of pants along with other articles of clothing.

The prosecutor informed the court that during police questioning, the suspect allegedly confessed to taking the clothing items for ritualistic purposes.

When the charges were presented to him in court, Shehu entered a guilty plea.

In light of his plea, the prosecutor requested to call a witness to support the admission.

The court then ordered that the suspect be held at a correctional facility while awaiting further proceedings.
