The Minerals Commission is poised to immediately take administrative control of the Adamus Mine located in Salman, within the Ellembelle District, following the government’s decision to uphold the revocation of Adamus Resources’ mining lease.
During a working visit to the mine, the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, announced this decision after a Ministerial Review Committee submitted a report that evaluated the appeals made by Adamus Resources.
The Minister indicated that the committee had examined the issues raised by the company and confirmed the majority of the violations identified in the initial assessment of its operations.
He subsequently upheld the revocation of the company’s mining lease and instructed the Minerals Commission to take over administrative control of the mine.
“Following the report of the Minerals Commission to the Chief Inspector of Mines, and with recommendations of the great violation of the Mining Act and mining regulations. A recommendation for revocation ofsome mining leases was made.
“The Ministry agreed with them; there was a petition, and we formed the ministerial review committee. That work has come to an end. As a Minister, I have concluded to uphold the revocation. What that means is that the Minerals Commission should, with immediate effect, take administrative control of this Mine,” he stated.
This decision comes in the wake of the government’s earlier revocation of Adamus Resources’ mining lease due to alleged violations of the terms and conditions governing its mining activities.
Mr. Buah emphasised that the review process was essential to ensure that all concerns raised by Adamus Resources were thoroughly considered prior to reaching the final decision.
