The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 12-year-old boy and a 34-year-old man following the circulation of a viral video that depicted the minor operating a DAF XF 105 articulated truck with the registration number GS 3097-20.
According to the police, the 34-year-old man is suspected to be the vehicle’s driver and is believed to have permitted the minor to control the heavy-duty truck.
Both individuals are presently in the custody of the Central Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) in Accra, where they are assisting with the investigation into the incident.
In a statement, the Police Service cautioned parents, guardians, and vehicle owners against allowing minors or unlicensed individuals to drive, especially heavy-duty vehicles.
It emphasized that such actions pose significant risks to road users and violate provisions outlined in the Road Traffic Act.
The police also urged the public to contribute to road safety initiatives by reporting similar occurrences and fostering responsible behavior on the nation’s roads.
