The Ministry of Health has announced the indefinite closure of the Nursing Training College in Techiman Krobo due to ongoing student unrest that has disrupted academic activities and compromised the peaceful administration of the institution.
This closure, effective immediately, was communicated in a statement released on Wednesday, July 29, by the Ministry, which indicated that the decision was necessary after multiple interventions failed to restore tranquillity on campus.
The Ministry noted that despite numerous engagements, including meetings, counselling sessions, and appeals from stakeholders such as the Regional Security Council, certain students persisted in actions that contravened the college’s rules and regulations.
The ministry expressed concern that the behaviour of some students has fostered an environment that endangers safety, disrupts academic progress, and hinders the effective operation of the institution.
It clarified that the temporary closure aims to restore order, safeguard lives and property, and enable relevant authorities to evaluate the situation before deciding on the necessary steps for the safe reopening of the college.
To facilitate the restoration of calm, all students have been instructed to vacate the campus peacefully and return to their homes by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29.
Parents and guardians are also encouraged to make appropriate arrangements for their children in light of the Ministry’s directive.
“We wish to assure all stakeholders that every effort will be made to resolve the situation promptly. Information regarding the reopening of the College will be communicated through official channels in due course,” the statement concluded.
