The family of legendary Ghanaian highlife musician Daddy Lumba has marked the first anniversary of his passing with an emotional private memorial at his East Legon residence in Accra.
The gathering brought together close family members and associates to celebrate the life and enduring legacy of one of Ghana’s greatest musical icons.
Among those present were his kinsmen, his sister, Faustina Fosu, and his widow, Odo Broni, who were inconsolable as they paid tribute to the late musician.
For the first time since his death, the family also gave the public a glimpse of Daddy Lumba’s final resting place—a tomb housed in a mausoleum within his East Legon residence.
His black tomb is surrounded by numerous awards, plaques and memorabilia, reflecting the remarkable career that spanned nearly four decades and earned him a place among Ghana’s most celebrated musicians.
Born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, Daddy Lumba died on July 26, 2025, at The Bank Hospital in Accra at the age of 60 after a brief illness.
The exact cause of his death was not publicly disclosed.
Widely regarded as one of Ghana’s greatest highlife artistes, Daddy Lumba left behind a rich musical legacy of more than 30 albums and countless hit songs that continue to inspire generations.
One year after his passing, tributes continue to pour in from fans, fellow musicians and admirers, celebrating a man whose voice, songwriting and timeless melodies have secured his place in Ghana’s music history.
