The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has commenced preparations for the country’s participation in the inaugural FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival Azerbaijan 2026 with a comprehensive screening exercise for the National U-15 Boys Team.
A total of 108 young talents have been invited to take part in the assessment exercise, which will be held at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
The initiative forms part of efforts by the GFA to identify and develop the best young players capable of representing Ghana at the international tournament scheduled for October 2026.
To ensure a detailed and effective evaluation process, the invited players have been divided into three groups of 36 players each.
This arrangement will allow the technical team to assess the abilities, fitness levels, technical skills and overall potential of each player in a well-organised environment.
The first batch of players will report to camp on Friday, July 17, 2026, and will undergo a five-day assessment until Tuesday, July 21.
The exercise will be supervised by Head Coach Salifu Fatawu and his technical team, who will be responsible for monitoring the performances of the young footballers.
The second batch will arrive on Tuesday, July 21, and complete its screening on Saturday, July 25, while the third and final group will begin its assessment on the same day and also spend five days in camp.
After the completion of the screening process, the technical team will select the most outstanding players to form the core of the National U-15 squad.
The selected group will then return to camp on Sunday, August 9, 2026, to begin intensive preparations ahead of the FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival in Azerbaijan.
The players invited for the exercise were identified through the GFA’s nationwide scouting system, which has been designed to discover and nurture emerging football talents across the country.
Several of the selected players impressed during the Elite U-15 Inter-Regional Championship, while others were spotted through the GFA Elite Football Academies, Colts Leagues, Inter-Schools competitions and the Division Three League.
