Two killed, several injured in accident on Fodoa–Nadeso road

Two people have died, while several others sustained injuries in a serious road accident on the Fodoa–Nadeso stretch of the Kumasi Highway in the Kwahu South District of the Eastern Region.

The accident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, July 16, 2026, when a cargo vehicle collided with a long truck loaded with bottled water.

According to the Nkawkaw Municipal Fire Commander, Divisional Officer Grade Two (DO II) Samuel Mante, the cargo vehicle with registration number WR 644-N reportedly developed a mechanical fault, leading to the collision.

The impact of the crash resulted in the death of two occupants at the scene, while several other victims sustained varying degrees of injuries and were rushed to the Holy Family Hospital in Nkawkaw for emergency medical care.

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service, together with other security agencies, responded swiftly to the scene to rescue trapped victims and clear the road to restore traffic flow.

DO II Samuel Mante urged motorists to prioritise road safety, particularly when faced with vehicle breakdowns on highways.

“I urge drivers to strictly observe road safety measures, especially during vehicle breakdowns,” he said.

He advised drivers to always place warning triangles at appropriate distances when their vehicles develop faults to alert approaching motorists and prevent avoidable crashes.

The Police have commenced investigations into the cause of the accident.
