Dr. Bawumia expresses sympathy to flood victims

Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has expressed deep sympathy to thousands of Ghanaians affected by recent floods across parts of the country, describing the situation as painful and urging national unity in response to the disaster.

In a message shared, Dr. Bawumia said his thoughts and prayers are with families who have lost loved ones, as well as those who have suffered damage to their homes and properties or have been forced to leave their communities due to rising floodwaters.

“This morning, my thoughts and prayers are with the thousands of our people affected by the floods,” he said. “My deepest sympathies to those who have lost their loved ones, properties, and those who have been forced out of their homes.”

The former Vice President also called on citizens to strictly follow government directives and cooperate with all institutions responsible for managing the emergency situation.

He stressed that collective action and discipline are important in dealing with the impact of the floods.

Dr. Bawumia further urged emergency response teams and relevant state agencies to do everything possible to reach affected communities and provide urgent assistance to those in need.

He emphasised the importance of swift and coordinated action to reduce suffering and support recovery efforts.

“I also urge the emergency services and all relevant authorities to do everything possible to reach those in need and assist them,” he stated.

He added that Ghana would overcome the current challenges through compassion and unity, encouraging citizens to support one another during this difficult period.

“We will get through this difficult time by caring for one another,” he said.

The floods, which have affected several parts of the country in recent days, have led to displacement, property damage, and loss of lives in some communities, prompting ongoing rescue and relief operations by emergency agencies.

Authorities continue to advise residents in flood-prone areas to take precautions and follow safety instructions as weather conditions remain unstable in some regions.
