Black Stars ready to fight for Ghana – Carloz Queiroz

Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has expressed strong confidence in his squad’s readiness for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, insisting his players are fully committed to giving everything for Ghana as preparations intensify ahead of the world cup.

Speaking after naming his final squad for the tournament in Mexico, Canada and the United States, the experienced Portuguese trainer said the selection process was exhaustive and left him convinced that he has assembled the right group to represent the nation on football’s biggest stage.

According to Queiroz, weeks of observation, analysis and consultations with club coaches helped shape the final squad, which includes 26 registered players and an additional goalkeeper who will remain with the team as cover throughout the competition.

The Black Stars coach emphasized that success at the World Cup will depend more on teamwork than individual brilliance. He revealed that one of his key objectives since taking charge has been to build a strong sense of unity and collective responsibility within the squad.

“It is not about me. It is not about individual stars. It is about Ghana and the shirt,” Queiroz stressed.

The coach explained that modern football demands every player contributes both offensively and defensively. He wants his side to be known for its collective work rate, discipline and fighting spirit whenever they step onto the pitch.

Despite challenges surrounding the late arrival of several players due to club commitments, Queiroz remains optimistic. He disclosed that many squad members only joined camp after completing domestic and cup competitions with their respective clubs.

Nevertheless, he believes the players are mentally fresh and eager to represent Ghana at the World Cup.
